Synopsis
Laughing on the Inside is a docu-reality series following Mexican comedian Sofia Niño de Rivera as she leads comedy workshops for people incarcerated in Mexico City’s prison system. A moving and unique social experiment, this series follows members of three prison populations as they learn to transform their trauma into five-minute stand-up routines. Unbeknownst to them, they’re preparing comedy sets to perform at a theater outside of their prisons in front of a live audience. The series is directed by Oscar-nominated filmmaker, Maite Alberdi (The Mole Agent, The Eternal Memory) and produced by Niño de Rivera.
