Set in the late 80's in Santiago de Chile, My Tender Matador narrates the encounter between The Queen of the Corner, an old romantic transvestite living in a poor neighborhood, and Carlos, an undercover Mexican guerrilla fighter. One night, the young rebel saves The Queen from the police and a special relationship full of heartache, justice and boleros flourishes. Carlos asks The Queen to store some boxes at her place, apparently filled with "forbidden books", but what she doesn't know is that inside are the weapons to assassinate the dictator Augusto Pinochet.
