Premio Maguey Over the Rainbow presents its Spot 2018

Premio Maguey Over The Rainbow presents its Spot 2018, within the 33rd Guadalajara International Film Festival (FICG).

The Spot was created by producer Héctor Fausto and set to music by Sage Skylight as an homage to the theme “Somewhere Over The Rainbow”, musical creation by Harold Arlen with lyrics by Yip Harburg.

Premio Maguey, in its seventh edition, honors the Gay Liberation, which arrived hand in hand with cinema after the legendary Stonewall riots the night of June 27th, 1969. It was the day of Judy Garland's funeral, star of The Wizard of Oz and a gay icon. For the first time the LGBT+ community fought against the system that persecuted homosexuals. Months later, LGBT+ rights organizations arose in an international context, and the first Pride marches were born. From then on, the rainbow flag became a symbol of freedom. A new era was born, and with it, a new cinematography; a transgressive cinematography. Héctor Fausto brings Spanish artist Naro Pinosa’s images to life in order to create an illusion of movement, the movement as a metaphor for freedom in a playful and ideal world where dreams really do come true.
