Led by Antonio H. Álvarez, the story of Cuórum can be told from different contexts and perspectives. Its story goes back to 2016, in the Sexual Diversity Program, when LGBTQ Mexican short films arrived in the big screens of Morelia.

This program would become a stimulating encounter between filmmakers, professionals and the public to discuss sexual identities and dissidence, countercultures and gender, as well as to discover and promote new artistic expressions.

Its story in the present as an independent entity is told through the effort to highlight international cinema that promotes equality and strengthens social inclusion through a Queer experience complemented by panels and artistic training activities.

The OUTFESTPERÚ film festival was founded in 2004 by Rolando Salazar, and it aims to shine a light on LGBTQ content through cinema. It relies on the seventh art as a tool of social change; activate and make viewers visible far beyond the closet, their lives or minds.

The festival takes place in June in emblematic cultural spaces of Lima, Peru, with the objective of sensitizing and educating the public about the social and cultural diversity of Peru through stories that range from comedy to drama, transgression or the struggle for equal rights.

Collaborations with other festivals are a pivotal part of Premio Maguey’s mission, with the certainty that together we are stronger, and the message becomes categorical, forceful, with great scope and impact. Hand in hand and in unison we strive for a world free of discrimination, with cinema as our guiding medium, a fight from our heart.
