Synopsis

La Civil tells the story of Cielo, a mother looking for her daughter kidnapped by a cartel in northern Mexico. The authorities refuse to come to her aid, so Cielo decides to take charge of the situation. She begins her investigation and gains the trust of Lamarque, an unconventional soldier from the region who agrees to help her in her search, because Cielo's information can be useful in his own operations. Their collaboration will drag Cielo into a terrible spiral of violence. The story is inspired by real events.

Director

In 2014, she made her directorial debut with the award-winning documentary, Waiting for August. She continued her work developing different projects with the Belgian company, One for the Road, which include two feature films set in Mexico, including La Civil (2021).
