Synopsis

Premiere date and place: Palacio Chino in Mexico City, August 3, 1951.Playboy Roberto "El Suavecito" has a relationship with the worker Lupita, but he is constantly unfaithful. One night in a dance hall, El Suavecito fights with Carlos, a taxi driver. After making amends, El Suavecito invites Carlos to the gambling room of "El Nene", a dangerous gangster. A crime is committed in the place and Carlos is wrongly accused. El Suavecito sells his silence to El Nene out of cowardice, but remorse will not allow him to keep his promise for long.Version restored by the UNAM Cinematheque in 2019.

Director

He is considered one of the most gifted Mexican directors in the exercise of cinematographic genres. He cultivated all existing genres: comedy, melodrama, arrabal, western, wrestling. He stood out particularly in the horror genre, with titles known as Ladrón de Cadáveres (1956), El Vampiro (1957), Misterios de Ultratumba (1958), among others.
