Fanny: the Right to Rock

Documentary | Canada | 2021 | 92 min | English

Synopsis

In the 1960s, Filipino-American sisters, Jean and June Millington, got together with other teenagers in California to play rock & roll, a powerful way to be seen and respected. Their garage band ended up signing with Warner/Reprise, releasing 5 critically acclaimed albums, touring with Slade and Chicago and amassing a legion of fans, including David Bowie. But Fanny's musical footprint and pioneering contributions to music were erased from history, until bandmates reunite with a new rock record deal 50 years later. This documentary reveals their incredible, untold story, including the obstacles they faced (racism, sexism, discrimination).
