Synopsis

In 1991, Guatemala is at war. The army and guerrilla groups battle each other in the mountains, but these are distant news for Daniel and his friends. They just want to have fun and travel with baseball bats in the car; but their destination is not a game, it's a hunt.  The five teenager's squad roams the city looking for lower-class young men with indigenous features, who dress differently and listen to hip-hop music. They are the enemy, whom they refer to as “breaks”. Daniel and his friends do not know why they do what they do: they just know that they are “anti-breaks”.

Director

His first feature, Distancia, was presented at multiple festivals in Europe, Asia, Oceania and America, obtaining, among other awards: Best First Film at The Havana Film Festival, Best Film and Best Director at New York-Havana Film Festival and Best Film at Trinidad & Tobago Film Festival. 1991 won the Work in Progress award at CRFIC and premiered at Miami Film Festival.
